Richmond Scientific buy and sell new and used laboratory equipment. Their website has to be part catalogue, part shop and part sales tool, and we’ve run it since the end of 2020.

Richmond Scientific came to us at the end of 2020 with designs in hand and a project that had stalled. They didn’t need a big agency process. They needed someone to get it finished, get it live and stick around. The site launched in early 2021 and we’ve looked after it ever since.
Laboratory equipment isn’t a normal basket purchase. Some customers buy with a card, some need a quote, and everything ships on pallets. So the store does both: request-a-quote and buy-now side by side, with a pallet-based shipping engine that prices quarter, half and full pallets across UK and international zones, plus card payments and proper search.
As the catalogue grew we replaced heavyweight third-party plugins with bespoke, fast filtering and listing components built for their exact needs, restructured the catalogue around new and used equipment, added a wishlist with scheduled exports for the sales team, and connected the store to eBay so listings sync instead of being retyped.
Five years on, the site is monitored around the clock, hosted on infrastructure that’s been upgraded as they’ve grown, and supported on a monthly retainer that’s outlasted three generations of the client-side team.
The catalogue: 1,000+ products across 161 categories
Five years, three hosting upgrades, one constant: when something needs fixing, it gets fixed the same day.
