Where it started.

Locala’s relationship with us began the way a lot of our best ones do: with the unglamorous stuff. Supporting their main website, handling enterprise CMS upgrades, responding to security incidents, helping editors get things done. Steady work, done properly, year after year.

The referrals problem.

Healthcare referrals used to mean paper forms, PDFs and inboxes. Together with Locala we digitised them step by step, and that work grew into a full bespoke referrals platform: a public portal where anyone can make a referral, a clinician-facing workflow for triage and review, and an admin form builder so the team can create and change forms themselves. Conditional logic, file attachments, routing to the right team, audit trails, and documents flowing into their clinical record system.

The gear change.

After launch, the platform moved to a two-day-a-month retainer. Under traditional development that bought one or two features a month. Then we introduced AI-powered development, with the same developer designing, reviewing and testing every release. Same retainer, same budget: now around fifteen features a month. PDF export, audit trail events, email retry queues, smarter form logic, reporting. Deployments go out fortnightly.

The estate.

Alongside the platform we look after Locala’s main website and their service sites, including a sexual health site with a custom clinic finder map, a 0-19 children’s service site and a self-care site. Seven live properties, one team, one phone call.
